RUSSELL—The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School Ravens Intermediate Boys basketball team travelled to Russell High School on Wed., May 2, to take on the T-Wolves in PRSSAA. The game was not only a battle of Russell but it was also a battle for first place with the Ravens having one more win than the T-Wolves.
Ravens 45 T-Wolves 20: The Ravens got off to a good start both offensively and defensively in the first quarter scoring 11 and holding the T-Wolves to three. The Ravens displayed their explosiveness in the second quarter scoring 22 points to the T-Wolves’ four.
The Ravens took a 33-7 lead into the break at halftime. The T-Wolves fared much better in the third quarter taking it by a 7-6 count but trailed 38-14 heading into the final quarter. It was a defensive battle again in the fourth quarter but this time it was the Ravens turning the tables with a 7-6 score. The Ravens took the game 45-20 taking a two game lead atop the standings.
Scoring for the Ravens were: Logan Kinsella with 12 points, Aurel Tebeu with eight, Kaden Mikkelson, Cole Eikelboom and Callum Birch each with six, Eddie McNair with three and and James Verspeek and Max Messervey each with deuces.
Scoring for the T-Wolves were: T. W. with nine points, Sam Peters with four, Connor Ross with three and Owen Johnson and Josh with deuces.
